Cindy Hyde-Smith was born on May 10, 1959, in Brookhaven, Mississippi. She earned her B.S. from the University of Southern Mississippi. She served in the Mississippi Senate from 1999 to 2011 and as Mississippi Commissioner of Agriculture and Commerce from 2011 to 2018. She was appointed to the U.S. Senate in 2018 and won a special election to complete the term. She was re-elected in 2020.
