Biography

Ed Markey was born on July 11, 1946, in Malden, Massachusetts. He earned his B.A. from Boston College and his J.D. from Boston College Law School. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve. He served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1976 to 2013. He was elected to the U.S. Senate in a special election in 2013 and re-elected in 2014 and 2020.
