## Biography

Mary Peltola is a Yup'ik Alaska Native born in Anchorage. She served in the Alaska House of Representatives from 1999 to 2009. She won a special election in August 2022 to fill the seat vacated by the death of Rep. Don Young, becoming the first Alaska Native elected to Congress. She narrowly lost re-election in 2024 and entered the Senate race in January 2026.
