Biography
Susan Collins was born in Caribou, Maine. She earned her B.A. from St. Lawrence University. Collins worked as a staffer for Sen. William Cohen and later as a state government official before being elected to the Senate in 1996. She has served since January 1997 and is one of the most senior members of the Senate.
